About

Debbie Hasbrook M.Ed.

In 1975, I walked into my first college class on early childhood education. If you had told me then that I’d still be at it fifty years later, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But here I am, five decades later I am still enjoying a career that has been my life’s work and my greatest joy.

I started where many begin a long-term career in early learning: in the classroom. Where like them, trying our best to provide quality care for other people’s children.

I’ve been a lead teacher, I’ve run my own home childcare programs, and I’ve navigated the challenging task of being a center director. Including years as adjunct faculty training teachers, and then trainers.

Along the way, I completed my education goals. Starting with a Montessori degree that changed how I saw a child’s learning as child led, interest and exploration. Completing a Bachelor Degree and later a Master’s that shifted my focus toward teaching and supporting adult learners.

Over time I gained skills in curriculum design, early child development, classroom management, and teaching practice that must always put the child first. All the while creating activities and experiences that were fun, relevant to their experience, understanding and ability. To help children learn and build the skills the would need when they started Kindergarten.

These days, things look a little different. My “classroom” has moved online. I’ve written books, courses, songs, and poems. I started a blog and I’m having a lot of fun creating educational videos for our youngest learners.

It’s been a long road from those first classes in 1975 to the digital world I work in now, but the heart of it hasn’t changed. Whether I’m writing books or filming a video for young learners, I’m still that same educator who believes that how we start our children off in this world matters.

I’m so glad you’re here to share this next chapter with me.

Published Works

My  work was published independently by others and I do not profit financially from them, other than the book on Amazon. However, it is indeed nice to know children will enjoy the poems. Click the title to go to where they are visible.
