Be the person a child will always want to turn to in trials and share in their joys. Build that relationship through love, respect, patience, and flexibility. See them for the individuals they are. Even at this very young age, they are amazing, curious, and innocent. Support their strengths, and guide them in their challenges.
When they are young, children need your guidance and protection. As they grow the work you have done to build their confidence and set them on a positive path to successful adulthood will be evident.
That does not mean their life will be easy or without struggle. Knowing they may choose to follow unknown or challenging paths.
The building blocks you set in place when they were young and throughout their journey to adulthood will let them know that no matter what, you believe in them and will stand beside them.
Parenting and teaching are tough and everyone wishes they had done this or that differently. Remember, children learn more by what they see you do and say, not what you tell them to do.
Let go of what you should or shouldn’t have done and today, be the best parent or teacher you can be for the child in your care.
A wise person once said. “Raise up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old they will not depart from it.” (David)
